John LaPann brings more than 28 years of high level investment and planning experience to his role as President of Federal Street Advisors. John also chairs the firm's Investment Committee. Before founding Federal Street, John served as senior vice president of Gannett, Welsh & Kotler after seven years as vice president of Pell, Rudman & Company. He received a BA from Williams College and a master's degree from the State University of New York in Albany. Currently, he serves on the investment committee of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, is the Treasurer and member of the Board of Casa Myrna Vasquez, and is a trustee of several individual and charitable trusts.

Previously, Kristin worked at MassMutual where she was the Managing Director, Investment Research & Consulting, leading the research team responsible for the selection and monitoring of 33 investment managers covering 73 investment strategies, and provided investment consulting to MassMutual’s largest retirement clients and prospects. At the same time Kristin served as the Vice President/Officer to the $32 billion MassMutual Select and Premier Fund families. Kristin received a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and General Management from the University of Massachusetts in 1988. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder.

Emily Bannister joined Federal Street Advisors in 2006 as a Research Analyst. She evaluates long-only equity and fixed income investment managers. Emily has a particular interest in helping clients align their investment program with their social priorities.

She worked on the Endowments for Climate Solutions Forum co-sponsored by Federal Street Advisors, attended the 2008 Institutional Investor Events' Annual Forum on Responsible Investing, and is a member of the Social Investment Forum. Prior to joining Federal Street Advisors, Emily worked as an Investment Analyst at Bain & Company. Emily received her BA from Boston University where she was a Trustee Scholar, and earned her MBA at the Universidad de Alcalá in Alcalá de Henares, Spain during her time as a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar. Emily is a Level III candidate for the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Ben Deschaine joined Federal Street Advisors in 2001. He is the Senior Research Analyst responsible for identifying and evaluating Hedge*Fund and Private*Equity managers. Before joining Federal Street Advisors, Ben was employed by Principal Financial Group where he helped design and implement investment and business transition programs for highly compensated executives and business owners. Prior to that he was employed at NQP Administration Services, LLC, helping to design and administer tax deferred compensation investment plans primarily for high-tech executives. Ben holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance as well as a Master of Science in Global Financial Analysis from Bentley College. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the Boston Security Analysts Society and has received the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation. Ben has published a number of articles on Hedge*Fund investing in the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) Journal which have been referenced in the Times of London, the Boston Business Journal and other newspapers.

Mike O’Leary joined Federal Street in 2009. He works with clients on all aspects of their investment program and is part of the research team responsible for identifying and evaluating investment managers.
Prior to joining Federal Street, Mike spent three years at LongVue Advisors as a Senior Investment Analyst working with the firm’s Chief Investment Officer on asset allocation and manager research. Previously, Mike also worked as an internal consultant on two large multi-national corporate pension plans and as a research analyst at NEPC, a large institutional investment consulting firm. Mike has extensive experience with asset allocation, manager due diligence and performance measurement. Mike obtained his undergraduate degree from The University of Massachusetts at Amherst and was conferred the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA). Mike is a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society.
